My Old Ass: Would You Listen To Your Older Self And Change The Circumstances Of Your Entire Life To Avoid Getting Hurt If You Got The Chance For A Do-Over?

‘My Old Ass’ is a coming-of -age teen movie that follows the main character – Elliot – in the 18 version of her and the 39 version of her. Her older self tries to give her younger self some life-advice such as spend more time with her friends, her mom and her brothers before she leaves her hometown for a new adventure. Then she gives her the advice that young Elliot doesn’t seem to understand – avoid a boy named Chad at all costs. Young Elliot, as well us, the audience, try to figure out what’s wrong with Chad, but we find nothing. He’s perfect in every way. We then find out that Chad dies and there will be nothing Elliot will be able to do to avoid it. Older Elliot tries to control her life by telling her younger self to avoid the same circumstances of having her heart broken in such a way. So this begs some questions: Would you listen to your older self and not fall in love with someone because you now know the ending of your story with them, and would you change the course of your entire life if you could to avoid getting hurt?
