Jenn Fredericks: Did You Know That Stressed Is Dessert Spelled Backwards?

The Graceful Boon is all about women’s issues, but more specifically, it’s all about women’s health. But health isn’t just about physical health, but emotional and mental health as well. And did I mention chronic too? Chronic health correlates with both emotional and mental health, and I’m here to tell you exactly how with the help of our wonderful guest writer, Jenn Fredericks. I’d gone through a health hiccup in the last few months that affected all three aspects of my health, and stress, or rather my response to stress triggered it. When Jenn told me she had this wonderful idea for a blog post, I saw it as the perfect opportunity. So without further ado…

Cameron Boyce: How His 2019 Death Shaped My Own Struggles With Epilepsy And Seizures

Cameron Boyce was a talented young actor who was taken from us too soon. He passed away at the of 20 in 2019 after suffering a fatal seizure in his sleep. His death shocked the world, especially those that struggle with epilepsy themselves. Throughout his life, Boyce kept his diagnosis ultra private, with only his family and two friends knowing anything of it. It was only after his 2019 death that it became public knowledge. Shortly following his death, Boyce’s parents, Libby and Victor, created a foundation in their son’s name, The Cameron Boyce Foundation, aiming to end gun violence and bring awareness to epilepsy. Boyce’s death felt personal to me, and it shaped my own struggles with epilepsy and seizures. So I want to tell you about it. Let’s discuss…

Adventures In Babysitting: The One Mistake ALL Recruiters And Hiring Managers Make In The Pre-Screening & Interviewing Process

It’s been almost a decade since Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson starred in the Disney Channel movie, ‘Adventures In Babysitting’, a remake of the 1987 classic. Even though it’s technically a kids’ movie, adults can enjoy it too. Not only that, but adults can actually learn something from it, particularly those that work in the Human Resources industry. It explains why job seekers, those that are in the arts in this case, have such a hard time getting employed. Believe it or not, it’s just in the first 5-10 minutes of the movie that we get our answers. Coming to you from someone who’s in the arts and has an educational background in Human Resources. Let’s discuss…

Adrienne Bailon: Your Friendly Guide To What You Can Expect When You’re Using Science To Expect

Adrienne Bailon has broken grounds throughout her career. She became the first Latina woman to host her own daytime talkshow when she joined ‘The Real’ in 2013. It was a position she held until 2022. Also in 2022, she became a first-time mom to son Ever James. Having him wasn’t an easy ride, and her struggles with infertility was something Bailon was open about throughout her time on the show. I resonated with her as I went through the exact same thing at the exact same time with her. I was then recently asked to guide a friend of a friend through my IVF journey, just like Bailon did for me through a screen. So it got me thinking about the importance of IVF friends; having someone to guide you through the tough times; someone who really gets it. Let’s discuss…

Raven Symone: Seeing People For Who They Are Rather Than For What They’re Labeled As

Raven Symone made the biggest bombshell 10 years ago when she told Oprah in an interview that she didn’t want to be labeled as an African-American, but rather as just an American. That interview was initially supposed to be the interview where she came out as a lesbian, but she changed her mind at the last minute because she didn’t want to be labeled as gay. Though Raven clarified her comments on a podcast episode with her wife, her initial 2014 interview got me thinking: Wouldn’t the world be in a much better place if we only saw people for who they are rather than for what they’re labeled as? Let’s discuss…

Lindsay Lohan: The Journey Of A Woman Coming Back From Personal And Career Failures

Lindsay Lohan is currently filming the sequel to her 2003 hit, ”Freaky Friday’, with Jamie Lee Curtis. She’s at the very top of her game. She’s a married mother of one, and her career is thriving as of late thanks to Netflix’s 2022 rom-com, ‘Falling For Christmas’, as well as 2024’s ‘Irish Wish’. But that wasn’t always the case. After gaining massive success in the early 2000’s, Lohan hit rock bottom and experienced many failures as an adult woman. After numerous tries of getting back up again, she didn’t know whether she’d find exactly what she was looking for. So I wanted to really understand her journey by looking at her past – both in her work and her personal journey. Let’s discuss…

Hilary Duff: The Value In Staying True To Your Vision For A Work Project At Hand

Hilary Duff has had a long-lasting career that began with her starring in Disney’s ‘Lizzie McGuire’ series between 2001 and 2004. A movie was also made in 2003 as a continuation of Lizzie’s story. Since then, she’s had a successful music and movie career in the 2000’s. Everything changed in the 2010’s when she got married and had a child as, in Duff’s own words, her priorities shifted. She’s made some bad career moves throughout, which cost her seeing the success she once experienced as a child and adolescent. But there’s one major thing she got right in 2020’s, which is not go through with what Disney wanted for her character, Lizzie, in their (axed) planned revival. Let’s discuss…

Miley Cyrus: How Liam Hemsworth Negatively Impacted Her Passion & Dedication To Her Craft

Miley Cyrus has been working her butt off since a very young age. She was also in a long-term relationship from a very young age. If you recall, she was in an on-and-off relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth for 10 whole years from the age of 16. This particular relationship was very loving, but also very wrong for her. While looking back on Miley’s career and success, it’s become evident that she was most dedicated and most passionate about her craft when she wasn’t with him, starting from 2013’s ‘Bangerz’ to 2023’s ‘Endless Summer Vacation.’ Let’s discuss…

Billy Ray & Miley Cyrus: Being In Your (Adult) Child’s Life Is A Privilege; Not A Right

Miley Cyrus recently appeared on David Letterman’s Netflix Show, ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’, where she opened up about her individual relationships with her parents, mom Tish and dad Billy Ray. Billy Ray Cyrus was a country music superstar back in the 90’s, with a smash hit record ‘Achy Braky Heart’ being released in 1992. Miley specifically talked about her father’s relationship with fame. With Billy Ray recently filing for divorce from his third wife, Firerose on the basis of ‘fraud’, Miley’s words made me think of how what we think of our parents when we’re adults says a lot about them as people. Let’s discuss…

Gabby Petito: The Tragic Tale Of Her Life And Very Avoidable Death

Gabby Petito was a young, vibrant 22 year old influencer who had her entire life ahead of her before her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, took her life by manual strangulation in August 2021. He then died by suicide a month later, and left a notebook with him where he took full responsibility for Petito’s demise. Now, almost 3 years later, Petito is making big changes in how we see domestic violence and Intimate Partner Violence relationships. It’s a tragic tale of a woman so in love that she failed to see the signs. But Laundrie isn’t fully to blame for her death that could’ve very much been avoidable had she been protected. Let’s discuss…
